“I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of droughts and flooding rains.”
Now that my time in Australia is over, I’ve been looking through the thousands of photos I’ve taken. I just had to invest in a drone whilst in Australia and believe that it offers such a different perspective for landscape photographers. Whilst the quality of photos from the DJI Mavic Pro will not win any awards (you’re essentially getting smartphone camera photos from up high), I just love being able to capture things that normally you’d never see. If you wanted to check out some inspiring Australian aerial photography, you’ve come to the right place.
So, without further ado, here’s my collection of drone photos covering 15,000 miles of Australia; from Melbourne to Perth. There’s something magical about this country which can only really be appreciated from the air. I could probably spend years and years capturing Australia from the skies and each picture would be unique. The landscape is so diverse and I hope I’ve been able to capture this.
Let me know your thoughts on drone photography in the comments below. I’ve put together some tips on drone photography generally here.

Wonderful set! I sold my drone, it was fun but there are too many restrictions.
Thank you! Yeah I completely agree but in Australia it worked out okay – just look at the app it’ll say yes or no then just fly!

Thank you! That means a lot as I’ve found aerial photography really difficult!

These are brilliant photos…and really showing my country to all with its beauty.
Thank you so much! I absolutely loved Australia, it’s so beautiful! One day ill get back to do the North West!
Im just reading about your time in Perth. Yes it used to be easy to get jobs if you were from overseas. However as the mining industry has had a downturn, most have moved back to Perth to work. Perth is my home town although I have lived here on the east coast for the last 10 years. Ah the great north west of WA its beautiful. My bestie is right at the moment doing a drive from Perth to – she is just out of Darwin. and loving it except for the humidity. looking forward to reading more of your blog
Yeah we really struggled in Melbourne too!! Even with both of us being qualified lawyers! We ended up doing bits of farm work and delivering yellow pages! Ah wow sounds incredible! Thank you

Oh wow, everything looks great! We’ve actually been thinking about investing in one, but we don’t travel often and I don’t wanna waste money by rarely using it.
Thank you! Yeah I thought that and I definitely didn’t use it as much as I could have! The DJI sparks are quite cheap if your wanting to make a start!
