Hands up if you’ve ever been to Lincoln? Nope, didn’t think many of you had! For some reason, travellers don’t seem to visit Lincoln yet the city is up there with the best of them. Lincoln began many years ago as a Roman town and has been seen as an important settlement throughout history. If you decide to visit Lincoln, you’ll struggle to miss the imposing castle and cathedral looking over the city. The city is absolutely beautiful. Of course, there are areas that are undergoing regeneration and the high street is just like everywhere else, but it’s certainly worth a weekend of your time. My favourite area is from the Bailgate with Steep Hill (which was voted Britain’s best street in 2012) and Castle Square down to Clasketgate. You’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants as well as boutique shops. I no longer live there but I visit Lincoln regularly and it always makes me happy; it is my home. Hopefully these ten photos will inspire you to visit Lincoln as soon as possible. For more information on visiting, the official tourist board has plenty of information!

Love the first photo. Great reflection on the river. Thanks for sharing
This is such a lovely city. I visited Lincoln when I was applying for universities and I interviewed here. Such a pretty little place :))
It really is! There’s so many more areas I want to photograph so this post could have been full of more!
These photos are stunning! I love Lincoln, it’s such an underrated city. I live about 40 minutes away so visit regularly and it never fails to make me smile 🙂
Great photos! I’ve never been to England, but I hope to visit some day since some of my dad’s ancestors came to America from Lancashire. Lincoln looks so historic! And that antique store is calling my name.Having never seen a “high street” though, I wasn’t sure – is it a good thing when you say “the high street is just like everywhere else”? Does that mean that’s where the shops are?
These photos are insane, I’ve always wanted to visit Lincoln and this post just makes me want to pack a bag and go right now! lNat x | https://www.nataliehansonblog.wordpress.com
Ohh your pictures are stunning!! Especially the 7th one!💛Anna // http://www.stralthy.com
Thank you! That is definitely one of my favourite photos too!!
I clicked on this thinking this was Lincoln Nebraska. Your Lincoln is probably much more interesting.
Ah, I’m sorry I should have clarified in the title!! Haha I can’t say I’ve ever been to Lincoln Nebraska so I couldn’t compare!
Think: corn. 🙂
Another American, when I saw the title, I also first thought of Nebraska. I’m afraid we never got closer than Bakewell in the Peak District — Maybe the next time.
Apologies again! The Peak District is beautiful! This post might make you look into visiting Lincoln next time you’re over! Thanks
Thank you! I know right! I feel that it’s not talked about at all in the travel blogging world! It always makes me happy although there are downsides too!
No problem! Thank you for the comments and glad you like the photo!
Thank you! No way, my dad’s side of the family are from Preston in Lancashire! The Uphill section of Lincoln is really historic it’s beautiful! Ah yes – the high street is essentially where all of the shops are. Just one street and all of the shops are quite similar in every city across England!
That’s cool that your people are from Lancashire too! I don’t know where exactly my people are from yet – hope to be narrowing that down someday via Ancestry.com. I bought a book called _Tracing your Lancashire Ancestors_, so I’m enjoying learning more about the region. And thanks for explaining about the high street – hope to see one someday!
Ah thank you! You really need to get yourself there, you won’t be disappointed!! Thanks for commenting
