On The Streets: Singapore

One of the smallest countries in the world, Singapore manages to fit so much into its 283.5 miles² nearly all of which is a photographer’s dream. Let’s take to the streets in my visual guide to street photography in Singapore.

We’re going back in time with this post, back to 2018, when I spent three glorious nights in Singapore before moving through South East Asia to Thailand. I think I knew before I arrived that I would fall in love with Singapore and I’m so glad that the country lived up to my high expectations.

We spent two nights in an Airbnb to get the majority of our exploring in, and so I could really focus on the photography, before spending one night at Marina Bay Sands which was just as impressive as you can imagine.

Singapore is as modern a city that I’ve managed to visit yet effortlessly slips into traditional culture ensuring that you will never be bored as a street and travel photographer. Whether you’re heading to Little India, the Arab Quarter or the Marina, I promise you will not be able to stop capturing all of the little moments of your adventure. I’m pulling together a complete guide to the best photography locations in Singapore which will help identify exactly where you have to grab a shot.

However, for now, we’re here just to showcase the best of my street photography in Singapore.

My ‘On The Streets’ series takes us across the world with short posts focusing solely on my unique style of travel and street photography. The series will never be complete but here’s a look at where I’ve covered so far:

Ok, let’s have a virtual wander around the streets of Singapore. This is my take on street photography in Singapore.

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY IN SINGAPORE

THE DETAILS

These photos were all taken with my original Fujifilm X-T2 and was the first place I travelled to where I shot JPEG only. I sometimes wish that I had shot RAW+JPEG so I could go back and edit the photos to bring them up to scratch with my current style however it’s an accurate reflection of how I thought best to capture Singapore at the time. The lenses I used back in 2018 were the Fujifilm 23mm f/2, Fujifilm 10-24mm f/4 and the Fujifilm 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 (all lenses I no longer own). You can find my current photography gear right here.
