On The Streets: Faro

It’s been four years since I’ve taken my travel photography overseas which is just a little a crazy. That all changed in March 2023 so we’re here to showcase my travel photography in Faro, Portugal, with my Fujifilm X-T5.

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it enough over the last couple of weeks but yes it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to practice my travel photography overseas. For me, that’s been hard. I love travelling to new places and capturing them through my camera. In March 2023, all that changed with our first family holiday to Faro in Portugal courtesy of Jet2holidays and so I was finally able to really put the Fujifilm X-T5 through its paces on the streets of a new country.

This collection of images is probably my most ‘complete’ collection where the feel and vibe are the most consistent. I’m quite proud of my continued improvement and development of my own unique style of photography which I guess combines aspects of street and travel photography.

As I said above, 99% of the images below were taken with the Fujifilm X-T5 with my new Classic Negative recipe which I feel works well not only with Faro’s beautiful pastel colours but also the grittier side too. The lenses most at work here are the Fujifilm 18mm f/1.4 and the Fujifilm 35mm f/1.4 with the Fujifilm 50mm f/2 playing a supporting role. There are a few shots from the X100F but the colours don’t match – I think I must suddenly need the X100V (if it ever comes back in stock!) to have a complete travel photography set up for 2023 and onwards.

I hope you enjoy my travel photography in Faro as much as I do – I genuinely feel joy looking through these photos; the colours are perfect and, in my view, feature some of my best photography yet.
